OVERVIEW

OutBreak is a personalised zombie-apocalypse comic built to immerse the reader directly into the narrative. More than a genre piece, it functions as a visual experience where colour, atmosphere, and pacing carry as much weight as dialogue and plot. The project demanded a balance between cinematic intensity and visual clarity, ensuring each page advanced the story with purpose.

THE CLIENT

Tom brought forward a strong creative concept supported by rough, expressive sketches that defined the characters and storyline. The challenge lay in transforming these foundations into a finished comic that felt cohesive, polished, and emotionally charged. The objective was not reinterpretation, but elevation, preserving the original vision while giving it the visual strength and consistency expected of a professionally produced comic.

THE PROJECT

  • Colour & Texture
  • Sketch Digitisation
  • Colour Palette Development
  • Visual Storytelling
  • Atmosphere & Mood Design
  • Print-Ready Artwork Preparation

The work involved fully digitising the original sketches and developing a deliberate colour palette tailored to the narrative’s emotional arc. Colourisation was used strategically to heighten tension, guide the reader’s eye, and establish contrast between moments of chaos and calm. Attention was given to lighting, depth, and tonal balance to enhance realism without sacrificing style.

Each page was refined to ensure visual continuity and print readiness, resulting in a comic that feels cinematic, immersive, and confidently executed. The final outcome transforms raw concepts into a cohesive visual narrative, bringing scale, mood, and storytelling precision to the world of OutBreak.
